Considering your family history, it's wise of you to avoid alcohol. There's evidence that alcoholism can be inherited, so it's possible (maybe even likely) that your genes mean you'd find drinking difficult to control if you ever started.
Binge drinking and habitual high consumption of alcohol is a real problem in the UK, but recent surveys have found that around a quarter of people between the ages of eighteen and twenty-four never drink at all. I don't know where you live, but you can be sure you're not unique, and you'll feel a lot better and be a lot healthier (and wealthier) if you don't drink.
IIN That I look down upon people who drink alcohol?
