Is it normal that i just kissed my student?

I know it was wrong but I don't know what came over me. Before you judge, let me explain.
So I have a male student who is 16 and I'm a 26 year old female English teacher. He is really funny and cute, but not in a relationship way. He is very keen on English and is really good at it, and he used to come after school and talk to me about literature alone.
Slowly our conversations progressed and became more personal. Nothing too abnormal. We were sort of like friends rather than student and teacher.
One week, my boyfriend told me he had cheated on me numerous times and that I wasn't satisfying his "pleasurable needs."

I was upset and my student saw that after school. He asked me what was wrong and I opened up to him. I told him I thought I was never going to find the right guy. He told me that I was perfect and that a gorgeous woman like me will have many chasing after her. I don't know why but it made me feel so good when he said that. Then he came on to me and kissed me. We started "making out" as in kissing passionately. It took about a minute before I realized what I actually was doing and I pulled away. I was so embarrassed and afraid of what had happened that I grabbed my things, apologized constantly and left as fast as I could.

I feel so scared and I know what I did was wrong and I feel so guilty. I'm so ashamed and I'm scared to go to work tomorrow. What should I do?

I know that he kissed me but I didn't say No to it. Plus they'll just believe his side if I tell.

Is It Normal?

  • As a teacher, I think you may have no option but to leave the school you're at and go somewhere else. No one here will judge you and if they do, fuck them. You were in a state, emotionally vulnerable and feel great remorse for the mistake you made. I know it's not really an answer, but I wish you the best of luck.

  • First and Foremost. Just Relax! You know the gravity of the situation .... right? You know that whatever you did was not correct and probably you are lamenting but think about the student whom you have kissed. God knows what exactly he is fantasising because of what happened with him. May be, he is in love with you . Now based on your testimonials I can make out that he liked you from the very beginning and with this incident he is on cloud 9. You have two options, First quit the school second talk to him in person for the one last time and clear it to him that you are not in love with him then avoid him as much as possible but really! I would choose the first option if I were you. being a 26 year old guy and a teacher I did quit my job because I fell in love with a 16 year old student although I had the option to have her but due to her future and ethics I chose to leave. I did inflict pain on myself by doing it but hey! I am 26 and she is only 16. So pull your socks up and behave like a 26 year old not like a nimwit of 16.

  • You know you did the wrong thing and I totally agree with Redcoat's suggestion.

What's his "side" of the story? You responded, you're supposed to be the adult here, act like one and learn from this, just don't let yourself get into this situation ever again if you value your reputation, your career and most importantly, the student's wellbeing

      • Yea, I think you missed my point. I was referring to the fact that it is so poorly written.

        • Cut the Grammatic. ... Please ! She went with her emotions. Just place yourself in her situation for a moment and may be you could understand her state of mind. No offense.... Please cut the slack. Hope you got my point. My apologies are in advance if you find my views a lil 'o' rude.

          • Aren't you a silly little nut? Calm down buddy, take a breath.

I would still expect an English Teacher to be able to tell a story, in English, properly. You are not required to agree with me.

I am sure, however, that she appreciates your responding in a way that makes her writing style look top shelf.
