Is it normal that i isolate myself away from problems?

When bad things happen in my life, I isolate myself away from everybody else. This is how I process bad information and it will take me around a week at least to get up to terms with it.

Is It Normal?

  • For a short period of time is normal. But, a week for most problems is likely a bit too much and indicates that you have not adequately developed coping skills.

On the other hand, the death of a very close friend, family member, or loved one (someone you really valued as part of your life) often takes several weeks to a month to process for many people.

  • It's normal but not healthy. It's called compartmentalization. It only serves to depress you and put the problem out of focus.
