Is it normal that i haven't registered to vote and have no desire to?

I haven't paid attention to politics at all, and in fact, have gone out of my way to avoid it. I have accidentally heard things via Facebook from different people, and I have put the puzzle pieces together to conclude that apparently, an American journalist was killed in Saudi Arabia and they chopped him up into little pieces. Is that what happened? I don't know, and I don't care.

I'm so frustrated that there is no way to obtain anything like an objective truth. The right-wing "media" like Fox and Breitbart only ever portray Trump in a positive light, and disgustingly excuse everything bad that he does.

The liberal "media" will demonize Trump unnecessarily, and will either ignore his good deeds or else will twist them to look bad.

I'm a liberal, but I feel like even if we take control of the house and the senate, it will be nullified by the fact that we have a Republican president and Supreme Court. Nothing our politicians do will affect our policy anyway. It's been very well-known that, just like Trump, Obama and Bush were also war-mongers who deported huge numbers of illegal immigrants, cut taxes on rich people, kept Guantanamo bay open, abused their executive authority, and more.

IN CONCLUSION:

I don't feel informed enough to vote. I just don't know why people pay attention to the news if it is so negative. WHY do people enjoy hearing about a journalist being murdered or a synagogue being shot up??? Do people actually ENJOY hearing about these kinds of things? Do they feel like it benefits their lives in any sort of way whatsoever?

I was at a party two days ago, and when the topic came up, I told my friends that I haven't registered yet. I could tell that they felt that something was way off about this. Am I normal?

  • I’m registered but don’t always vote when things come along and don’t really get into them I’m not a very political person I’ll sometimes vote for what I feel is right but I’m not the person to start conversations trying to argue a side cause that shits annoying to listen to. I got my side and stick to it and when budgets come along I vote on those if I feel I’m informed enough. If I’m unsure I don’t vote like you mentioned. I also don’t watch the news hardly ever so usually don’t know wtf is going on but reason being shit on the news is so fucking stupid like omg a seagull ate a fry at mcdonalds and now trump wants to sue it. Omg Justin Bieber ate a fucking burrito wrong like can’t we have something beyong 3rd world problems here. The times I do vote I sometimes don’t answer all questions just ones I choose.

The reality is that just because everyone can vote, doesn't mean everyone should. That the act of voting takes a bit of effort stops a ton of low-information voters such as yourself from voting.

    That's good.

You seem to have opinions. It is almost more difficult to make your rant than it is to vote.

News isn't supposed to be enjoyable all the time. Being in the know about what is going on in the nation is important. It's good that you feel like any news media, at least on tv, is unbiased because every source is at least a little biased. To be truly informed you need to look at multiple sources and come to a conclusion yourself.
