Sounds like you fear intimacy and confrontation so you're looking to hide and shield yourself. I can't say I'm entirely unlike you across the board.
I do enjoy looking good when I'm out and about especially amongst other women. Although I'm straight I don't care as much what I look like in front of men, because douches seen to come out too much when I'm dolled up. If I come off as not caring when I'm around men I'm fine because it weeds out the tools and douchebags. I figure most men prefer less makeup anyway. I figure it's more the war paint I put on when I'm amongst other females so I can feel confident and combat ready.
