Is it normal that i have trouble focussing during the day

I have an extremely difficult time focussing on doing anything during the day. It feels like the only time I can really focus is from around 11 pm to 4 am. This is a problem because I'm homeschooled and my parents want me to do my homework at a certain time and I just can't. It's hard to explain but I can't just make myself focus. One second I'm sitting down trying to work and the next I'm pacing around the house. I'm not doing it to avoid homework I just can't force myself to do it for some reason.
Is anyone else like this? Is it normal?

The idea of home schooling makes me uncomfortable inside. I'm sure there are some people who do it well and have good reasons to do it, but I feel like it's for people who want to brainwash their children and mold them into what they want.

I always had the notion of brainwashed, uber religious kids, as well. (No insult to you, I know you're religious) This poor child seems bored of it and besides the anxiety, I think it would do her (an assumption as to 'her') well to get out and go to school away from home. Or at least socialize more...If it's truly out of the question,, so be it. This is another matter entirely..

But perhaps this person is autistic or somewhere on the spectrum and the folks dont see or want to see it?!?! I dunno, I'm torn all over this one, not enough deets amdni am no expert

      • In my case I'm homeschooled because of extreme anxiety but when we were talking to this women who is the leader of some homeschooling group thing here she seemed like one of those parents. We only talked to her for a few minutes but she mentioned that she doesn't allow her kids to read anything with swearing, homosexuality, or "bedroom scenes".

Extreme anxiety could be a big part of why you have trouble focusing, even if you don't feel particularly anxious at home.

It might really help you to see a therapist.

Oh God, she sounds awful! Yeah, a woman like that would have inspired me to run away from home.

I'm like this too and have not yet found a way to get on a "normal" schedule. I think it's that during the day or before everyone goes to bed there's so much to do or want to do that after everyone is asleep and it's totally quiet inside and outside I can finally focus.

No, it's not normal. You should be able to focus on schoolwork for hours, like the rest of us had to. It's extremely boring, but most people just get through it and never look back. I have pretty severe anxiety as well, and I get through school fine. I would suggest asking your mom to let you go to public school. It shouldn't be as boring, though you would have to get used to it.

    • I used to go to a public school actually. I had this same problem there. I used to do really well in school, as a kid I always got A's but with this issue with focussing I was failing all my classes. This year we moved to a different state and I would have to go to this really big school. I was scared but I was going to try because my parents wanted me to. However on the first day I had a bad panic attack so we resorted to homeschooling.

    • I've never been a coffee person, everyone else seems to love it but I've tried it on three seperated occasions and couldn't stand it. I guess there's no harm in trying again though.
