Is it normal that i have a crush on my band teacher?

Not really much to say. I just have a crush on him. Hes nice, funny, and smart. Hes new to the school and so am I. Hes noticed I'm not the happiest person and often pulls me aside to talk about my day and how things are at home (they're not great) and I just kinda like him now so yeah

Crushes are a romantic attachment to an idealised version of the person being crushed on.

I'm sure you feel a connection to your band teacher and it's good that he's taking a personal interest in you, but you shouldn't read anything into this. He's probably just a nice, caring guy who has somehow managed to avoid getting totally burned out and turned into a cynical, time-serving dick by having to deal with loads of pain in the backside kids.

You should assume that he's smart enough to recognise the signs of what you're feeling. He would have to be an extremely stupid and evil person to take advantage of your crush, and you would be very silly to try to make things more personal outside school.

Enjoy your chats and his attention, but be aware that you're in love with a fantasy. You don't really know the guy. All you do know is the guy's professional persona, and that might be very different to the person he truly is.

    Skarmatic.
why do you assume the OP
    is a guy?
    Clearly the teacher is male.
Based on writing style, I assume the OP is a female.
    You validate boojums point.
But turned this into some homoerotic
    nightmare.

Uhh that person didn't say the teacher was female, nor did they say they thought the OP was male.

        Blinker.
        Read carefully.
        pay attention to words.
If Could cut and paste or use crayons for you I would.
But, I stand by what I said.
The OP referes to a Male teacher.
skarmatic for some reason assumes the person posting is also a man.
How is this difficult for you to understand?

            Skarmatics quote.
" yeah it's normal, but honestly dude, the fantasy isn't lived up to what it actually is. "
            So, blinkered.

Yeah it's normal, but honestly dude, the fantasy isn't lived up to what it actually is. Speaking from experience. And if he decides to pursue it, it's highly unprofessional. If the crush still continues, then be sure to pursue it AFTER you graduate, or else you risk putting him in prison and you having to be publicly humiliated. I know you probably won't listen to my words because those crushes are kinda weird, but TRUST ME on this one, the "risky" relationship with that doesn't live up to the hype. If you look online about people who actually have experienced teacher-student relationships, they all say the same thing. I'm living proof of it.
