Is it normal that i hate giving advice?

I got a new job in retail recently. This isn't my first retail job, but it is the first retail job of a guy who was hired on at the same time as me. He was hired to work in one of the more difficult parts of the store and he's been having a tough time. We start talking and before I know it, I end up giving this guy a pep talk. Since then, he seems to be doing better, but he occasionally asks me for more advice on other work-related things.

I don't want to leave him high and dry, but I don't like giving him advice. I never really feel like I'm qualified to be giving people advice in general. I just say what works for me, but what if it doesn't work for them?

You should be flatteted that you are approachable as well as experienced & knowledgeable enough for a work mate to ask for your advice.

At the end of the day you are offering your opinion on how you would do things & it is their choice what they do with that advice. As long as they aren't asking you all day every day take it as a compliment.
