Is it normal that i hang out with my neighbors cat but avoid my neighbor?

My neighbor lets his cat outside. We share a backyard and I sit next to his cat when I have a cig. I named her Lilac. Ill pet the cat and hang out with her, but if my neighbor comes out I stop smoking and go inside or leave. I think my neighbor is creepy. My friends hang out with the cat too. But we havnt ever said a word to the human. I go to great lengths to avoid him. Is that weird?

    Trust your instinct.
    Cats are usually good people.
    Most people are not.

  • I do the same I hate my neighbors but some of the cats come around so if I get a change I’ll go pet them. I also named them if I see one I’ll tell my boyfriend be like hey Susie is outside. Even tho it’s a boy and just found out his names Tiger. I love cats to much to ignore them on the lawn. I can’t not give them love.

People always say a pet is a copy of the owner, that means the temperament of the pet could be affected by the owner. So I am curious about why the cat you described is friendly, but the owner is not. But they maybe have no a close connection, I guess.

Im just curious as to how he's creepy. I'm glad the neighbor's cat is friendly, but the situation is sorta awkward and depressing to me.

My cat is pretty much a strickly indoor cat, it would freak me out if my neighbors avoided me, but enjoyed hanging out with my cat!

Here in Delaware one thing that appears kinda cute, but I don't care much for is the fact that white picket fences are very popular, whereas in Texas privacy fences are the thing and people have walls in Las Vegas. I don't like white picket fences, because they aren't very high, and don't provide any real privacy. I personally have always felt that good fences make good neighbors!
