Is it normal that i get turned on by spending my money on other people?

Even when I have hardly any money, I like to spend it on other people before myself.
Not because I like being nice, but because it turns me on and I dont even know why. But I remember most specifically in 2009 I was friends with this girl. We were going into our freshman year of high school. I bought her her entire wardrobe for that year. It was like 150 dollars worth of birthday money saved up that I spent entirely on her. Then another time I bought her 60 dollars worth of hot wings. I wasn't trying to get anything out of her. We werent even dating. Just close friends. She had a boyfriend while I was spending my money on her. But besides her, spending my money on anyone turns me on. I feel like I'm setting myself up to end up with a gold digger and I'll do nothing about it other than give in to it.
Is it normal?

  • You feel better about yourself when you spend on other people. There are two possibilities. You could be trying to bribe your way into their favor or you could just have a compassionate trait, but misdirected. Try volunteering. Teach English as a foreign language. Do some housecleaning for an elderly person. Be a big sister for a poor urban child. See if you feel the same reward.

  • I can almost relate, because I've gotten turned on before by going out of my way to be nice to people. Not to the extent that I got a full-on erection, at least not that I can remember.

I think we may both be whatever the opposite of a sadist is.
