I don't know your situation, but it may be that deep down you know these people are not real friends so you have a wall of protection up but you don't want to cut them off because you feel like having so-called friends is better than not having friends at all. I don't know, just a thought. I'm only saying this because that was my situation years ago, but I finally decided to go ahead and get rid of the so-called friends I had because I could see that hanging on to them (and them hanging on to me) was not going to come to a good end.
