Makes sense. People might say you're oversimplifying it, but if you used that exact approach, you'd never get addicted to anything. (I know you were being a bit facetious - but literally, it's a legitimate point).
Addictions are all different - different people, different drugs. But generally, I think they all tend to creep up on people.
Your approach is great, it's just not what most people do. And I think some people are more susceptible to addiction than others, basically depending on whether they're happy within themselves or not.
But as long as you realise not understanding something shouldn't be a reason to dismiss it. I could never understand how anyone could become an alcoholic - hangovers suck so much. But then years later I found myself with a bit of a drinking problem.. Just saying, sometimes these things don't make sense until you experience them or witness them yourself.
