Is it normal that i don't take compliments well?

I don't flip out on people or anything. But for instance; last night I was having some fun with one of my long time partners, and he kept saying how sexy I am, and how good looking I am and blah blah blah. I didn't know what to do or what to even say. I Guess I'm just not used to it or something. Or this cashier at the grocery store totally caught me off guard when she said I had pretty eyes. Or my ex saying I have a really defined 'V' below my abs. Which I didn't even know was there lol. What do you say to that? I feel like saying "thanks" is being pompous and I don't wanna say "you too" because it usually doesn't apply and I don't wanna have it sound like I'm saying it just because im supposed to.

Is It Normal?

    What's so hard about just saying thank you? Is that so difficult to figure out?

    Lol. I just think it's awkward as HELL. It's like how when somebody says 'I love you' it's like they've trapped u into having to say it back! One thing I usually don't do. Won't say it unless I feel it. Not just because I'm supposed to. And not that he isn't frickin gorgeous, it's just weird.

      Hey, this could easily be me. Except for the V thing. I feel very awkward when people tell me how great my boobs look.

    As a guy, I'm not complimented like that very often, but there have been a few occasions. I agree, I think it's pretty awkward and find it difficult to respond. Also, I think it's awkward to give certain compliments. For instance, complimenting a women on her appearance. While it may be true, it just feels weird to me.

      the standard thing to do when someone gives you a compliment is show the person that you appreciate their comment, but getting any deeper can be awkward.

      I thought it was just me. Idk. It's like as men, we are conditioned not to have and express emotion. And keeping a straight face when someone inflates ur ego is sort of part of it for me. I can't explain it...
