Is it normal that i don't like for people to tell me that they love me?

I don't like it at all. Even when family does it, all it does is make my skin crawl. I don't really love anyone myself, so maybe that's the problem, but given that I've never really had any kind of trauma or whatever in my life, I just can't seem to figure out why it bothers me so much. Is it normal that I just can't stand being told that?

Could it be hard to believe that it's sincere?

Do you feel that you don't deserve it?

Are you fearful about the other person making their emotions so vulnerable to you, because you know you might end up hurting them?

Are you concerned there might be invisible strings attached?

Have people tended to say it to manipulate you, or to palliate or excuse something bad that they've done?

I think it's normal not to like to hear it. It's abused in too many ways, and it has facilitated too much abuse.
