Is it normal that i don't know how to show any form of emotional support/empathy?

Is it normal that I don't know how to relate to people/feel empathy/be a good listener? I am a fairly normal person, I just cannot feel any form of empathy. I try really hard to understand people or even help them, but I honestly can't. I am not sure what is up with me, but my friends never come to me since they think that I dont' care about them. I just am not sure whether this is something I was supposed to pick up on my own and just didn't or what....

You don't need to feel empathy to be a good listener and help. Just like feeling empathy doesn't automatically make you those things. They are related but they are two seperate skills. Like with anything, a bit is 'talent' but the vast majority is hard work. You possess the tool kit to read one wikihow article on attentive listening and practice this. Feeling a deficiency of inert empathy is no excuse. In fact very empathic people tend to be some of the most destructive ones there are.
