Is it normal that i don't find greeting or thanking people natural?

So, most of the time I don't find waving or greeting someone natural, nor do I find saying "thanks" or "please" natural either. I of course do both these things regularly because I'm supposed to, but I'll often enter a room with people and won't say "hi" to anybody, or instead of waving or saying "hello" to anybody to catch their attention, I'll probably just nod my head or do something else to catch their attention.

Again, this is all stuff I don't find natural, it's not that I tend to not do it because I don't want to or because I have bad manners, it's just won't cross my mind when I'm supposed to do it.

I sort of get "please" and "thank you" but only to differentiate between asking and demanding. "Can I" works decently though. Anything works that shows the difference between a request and saying, "Give me half of your fries right now" or "I'm taking one of your beers" and such.

"Hi" seems like it should be optional though. I also don't think customers and cashiers should have to ask how one another are or wish one another a good day unless they just happen to actually be wondering how it was, although it's not really their business.

It's not like you're allowed to say anything but "good" anyway which makes the entire thing fake. You're going to look weird if you go buy toothpaste, get asked how you are, and reply, "Fucking horrible. I've been off suicide watch for about a week though. Since then the depression has still prevented me from brushing my teeth but today I forced myself to do something. I will be drinking heavily later and also popping pills, but not enough to OD. Okay. Bye."

Greetings are used to make your presence known. Without them people would just assume that you are the type of person that is rude and disrespectful.

You sound slightly autistic. Have you ever had a test?

    • I have ADHD and I've had suspicions about being autistic and some shitty online tests pointed out that I might have autism lol, but nope, I haven't had any actual test.

Same. I've never said hi to any of my neighbours.

Most of my neighbors are seniors, some of them are real assholes. Seriously, one elderly couple sometimes goes through my trash to see if I separate the trash properly. If I don't, they come and explain in great detail how to wash cans and containers before throwing them away.

Sometimes when I see them, I'll greet them and ask them if they had a nice dive, or tell them that they are moving into trash panda territory... they just ignore me.

How miserable, pathetic, lame and pointless must one's life be to go rummage in a dumpster, examining individual trash bags others have thrown in...

I feel the same way. Im not sure its cause of how i was raised. Saying please also makes me feel like im making a demand rather than seeing if someone is even remotely okay with something like 'can i please get a ride" vs my usual go to which is "would you be willing to give me ride" for example.
