Is it normal that i don't feel anything when watching people die on videos?

I watch a lot of gore videos, not because I'm a murderer but because I'm just morbous and I feel like it helps me to understand this world better.

I've been watching videos of people dying in various gruesome ways, ISIS executions, POV of shootings (like the NZ one) and even kids being run over by cars, yet I hardly feel anything when watching this videos, just indifference.

First, I know it's kind of fucked up to watch these kind of videos, but that's not the thing, I want to know if it's fucked up to not feel anything at all when doing it. I'm pretty sure I would react completely different if any of this thing happened and I was there to witness it, but I just don't feel anything when watching footage of it.

    You've probably desensitized yourself to gore, but also it's also not good for your mind. The normal reaction to death and suffering would be to feel horror, and disgust. If you watch that garbage, and feel nothing then you lack empathy which is not good.

    Glad I'm not alone. I sometimes watch gore shock videos too. But for more of a educational purpose not to sit and laugh. I don't really feel anything either but then again I'm very eccentric to begin with. When it comes to animal vids though I DON'T watch at all. I love animals too much.

    I get that there's sorta a disconnect between watching a video vs seeing it happen in real life, but binging on the videos seems to be leading you towards being desensitized to the violence. It might be good to take some time away from watching those kinds of videos. It might be worthwhile to talk to someone professional about your apathy too, if you have the resources to do so.

    I don't feel anything when it comes to gore videos either, though I don't actively look for them. Either way it's not normal.

    I've seen a few gore videos out of morbid curiosity as well and I felt anxious and uncomfortable watching them, though not sad and/or nauseous. To feel absolutely nothing though? Not normal.
