Is it normal that i do not date because i do not want to break up?

There's a guy that likes me and I really like him too. He asked me out a couple of times but I always refuse. He wants me to be his GF and I always tell him I am not interested but actually I am interested but I am afraid that if we date, we will eventually break up and not be friends anymore. I want to be his friend forever! Even if we do stay friends it just won't be the same.
I never even dated before because of the same reason.
You guys think I am weird? Is this normal?

    If you are afraid of cancer, then don't born at all (or something like that). Go ahead, try it. He's your friend isn't? What does make you think that you two will be best friends forever? What if you give him a chance? What if you stay forever til' death? What if you get bored of him? So many possibilities, girl. And you'll never know if you don't try. Stop being afraid and start living.

    It's a good idea to not date because you respect the friendship. Even if you both like each other there is no guarantee that you will be happier in a relationship with him than just being friends.

    Just date him. He will entirely get tired of asking you and it will start to hurt his feelings and he'll distance himself from you. I've done this to people and it almost always ends up this way . And you'll still be alone this time with no friend either. Just date each other and see what happens.
