I think we need different words for the physical act of losing virginity meaning having any type of intercourse, and the interpersonal act of having intercourse with a person of your choice.
My opinion is that I do not consider masturbation (including with penetration) as a means to lose virginity, just as most men do not consider it that way. I view it as the time in your life when you have consented to sex with somebody.
IIN that I didn't want my virginity to be taken by anyone I know?
