IIN that I denied my Trump-supporting father a proper burial

  • If your father being a member of the Trump cult was the only problem you had with him, that seems a bit extreme. But I suspect that was far from the only point of contention between you and him. Not all Trump supporters are assholes, but most assholes admire and identify with authoritarian assholes like Trump.

Cremation is a legal method of disposing of a body; it's not like you concealed his death from the authorities and fed his body to pigs or something. The money from his estate was legally yours to do with as you pleased. Giving a significant part of it to a charity which assists people in need was a generous move on your part, and if it helps you reach closure, so much the better.

    • I wasn’t a huge Trump supporter but to say they were all assholes is a bit arrogant. Even if his father’s only offense was being part of cult throwing out his ashes isn’t remotely justifiable.

      • Saying you weren't "a huge Trump supporter" implies you supported him to some degree.

I very clearly did _not_ say that I believe all Trump supporters are assholes. You claiming that I did means you fit neatly into the stereotype of Trump supporters being - to put it politely - intellectually challenged. But your reaction is understandable, since those on the political right cherish the belief that they're constantly under attack. (The down-votes on my response from Trumpy snowflakes is another example of this.)

As far the ashes are concerned, who - apart from the OP and his family - gives a damn what the OP does with them? His father definitely doesn't.
