I denied my Trump-supporting father a proper burial.
My Trump-supporting father died on 10/18/2020. I was the estate executor, so I had him cremated against his wishes. I donated 1/3 of the estate to planned parenthood. His ashes are now sitting in the garage, waiting for garbage day.
I think this is a troll. I see a lot of posts on the front page right now that sound like bait.
Seeing this post standing at 56 comments (excluding mine,) I'm convinced it's mission accomplished for OP.
If they can keep this up, they might as well get extra benefit from writing a book titled THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO WRITING A TROLL POST THAT ATTRACTS COMMENTS LIKE MOTHS TO A LAMP.

It's possible, but I'm rather inclined to believe that it's just a troll trying to trigger people in order to start some shit. I tend to believe if the OP were more than just another troll trying to get everyone's proverbial goat that the post would be about more than just politics.
While I understand your rage, it’s not worth desecrating the memory of your father. He had his beliefs and you have yours but you’ll never live it down if you throw him out like trash.

Well, Trump doesn’t have the best character, but he’s 1000s of times better than yours. The fact that you’d deny humanity to a loved one just because of his political views is what’s wrong with America. To be honest, this behavior is more practiced by the Left.

I see the left projecting everything they hate about trump supporters to trump supporters. Saying they are facists... by implementing fascistic policies towards their opponent's political party. If the DC riot was the only riot out there what about Portland? Seattle? Minneapolis? Kenosha? And all the other cities to suffer casualties and losses to random buildings. But the one time the right riots and causes damage exclusively to the institution that their anger stems from is somehow an insurrection. When any rational person knows that it's impossible to do a coup like that. They weren't even armed. What can a coup do if they were unarmed?
Was your dad auctually a bad dad? I have a narssist dad and an abusive bipolar mom and have attachement problems and panic attacks now. But if your parents were overall good parents and you are doing this over a political dispute than honestly you are an asshole. Unless the dispute was "raping kids" or something. I have seen families split and not talk to each other again. I've seen families that were living together move out or kick part of their family out because of political views.
Mostly if not all, have been the far left that just let their political views effect all aspects of their life. If you don't agree, 'then I don't like you or worse there is no place for you in my world.'
Your dad made the mistake of not seeing this in you. He evidently didn't let politics effect his opinion of you or he would have changed his will and executor.

Giving that an old style funeral and burial can easily cost 5 figures... The cremation is understandable.
I also note that I do not believe that Donald Trump would have paid anything for more than that for anyone who he had even the most minor disagreement with (I'm not even sure he would pay for the cremation as it appears to me that he works to destroy anyone who disagrees with him). So I can at least see some poetic justice in the concept that his final affairs are dealt with as per the beliefs and actions of whom he supported.
You are the executor and that gives you some rights. In my case I followed my parents wishes and was able to get enough funding from family members to pay for a grave and a small headstone to bury both sets of ashes in the same grave.
I would ask you to reconsider on his ashes.
I suggest that you contact other family members and ask them if they would like to spread the ashes somewhere... I'm guessing that you fill find people interested in that...
Funerals and burials are about other people's memories and feelings - not just your own.
Others in the family will appreciate you more if you give them a chance to spread the ashes... Please do it for them.

Alternatively, how about occasional playdates? DS loves having a friend over to play so he can run around being a fireman or whatever. Actually I find it is less work than when I just have my own 2 as they amuse each other so much more. If the other Mum comes too then you get a chance for gossip - and if she is a friend then she may watch them for 15 minutes while you get some chores done - as long as you do the same for her next time!
