Is it normal that i cut the rough skin from my heel and chew on them?

Ive always thought i was weird for doing this. I use the nail clippers and cut the skin on my heels and eat it.Its not the soft skin but rathet the dried up rough skin that is callused almost. I enjoy getting the biggest and thickest pieces and putting those aside and once i have a good pile ill sit and watch tv while i chew on them one by one with my front teeth only .something about the texture and biting down on the thick pieces is so satisfying .i know its not normal per say but ill feel better knowing im not alone.

no not normal 5

It's normal, actually. Dermatophagia or Autophagia are more often experienced by chewing the skin around your nails or dead skin from your lips, but in this case if it is not stress-related, you are probably doing it due to a vitamin deficiency or a lack of fiber/protein in your diet. Craving strange items (like wanting to lick stones) is common with pregnant women due to vitamin deficiencies but being low in certain vitamins can happen to anyone. If you find it comforting, it is more likely a stress coping mechanism.

I've been doing exactly that (even using nail clippers, too!) since I was maybe seven years old. I've graduated to a pocket knife, though!
