Is it normal that i cant get doctor to call me back? is it normal that i doubt myself?

I am 41 year old female with stomach problems since childhood. I was diagnosed at 11 with my first ulcer. I have had chronic abdominal and pelvic pain as long as I can remember. My mother never believed me and often called me a hypochondriac. I also get frequent eye pain which I call headaches.I have been to doctors my whole life but live in a rural area and maybe some of the docs here are ... well small town. I rarely go to the doctors and have pretty much just lived with all this a long time. I did go to my doctor often but always with the same complaints. He told me I had regional enteritis and sent me to a gastrenterologist. The gastro said I do not have that. He has never really given me a name for what is wrong with me but has had me on tons of medicine for a number of years. I got fed up with all this and just gave up. I didnt go to any doctor for a long time. I recently went to a gastro(new one) who said he was 99.9 % sure I have Crohn's Disease. He did a colonoscopy and he so far has said that I have mild colitis in the ileocecal valve, cecum, ascending colon, hepatic flexure, transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon and rectum. Doctor also stated that he observed periappendiceal imflamation. He intubated and biopsied the terminal ileum. He also said I have internal hemorrhoids. THis was almost two weeks ago. He did not put me on any medicine or give me anything for the pain. I have 3 calls in to his office with no response as of yet. Is this normal?

  • Absolutely not...that is severly unprofessional...what you need to do it show up to his office, and ask for your medical records or copies of them and immediatly find a new doctor. I know I wouldn't wait around for that.

  • Sometimes no news is good news but in this case I'd say keep calling

  • jeeeeez, i wouldn't think so.

instead of calling and asking them to have him call you, tell them you need a follow up appointment. good luck
