  • Laxatives will certainly not help you lose weight. They work by drawing water into your large intestine. That would be after you digest the food in question, with all the calories already absorbed by your body. They will lower your weight by causing dehydration, by pumping water into your digestive tract. If you take them long term, you will have to take larger and larger quantities over time. You will also become physically dependant on them...as in, you can not shit without them. This can result in very severe intestinal problems, and in very severe instances require removal of parts of the intestine & a colostomy bag (that's a bag that comes out of your stomach area that fills with poop throughout the day since your body can't digest food by itself...not plesant). You also risk immediate death from electrolyte imbalances, dehydration and potassium deficiency.

There's very severe health consequences and no positive effects. Your body is still digesting the food you binge on.

BED (binge eating disorder) is a really serious, miserable disorder when it's not under control. And it's only made worse by weight gain and secretive habits and bad finances due to food expenses. You obviously need help. I know it's awful to think about seeing a therapist, but you should.

There's a lot of treatments for BED. & it's actually a comorbidity of along of other disorders like adult ADHD. It's something that's treatable. Just as much as a broken leg. & it's serious. It won't get better on it's own.
