I can see where one might want to presume it's ignorant with regard to terminal illness or vegetative states, but I respectively disagree with you in regard to psychiatric conditions.
I myself have made attempts on my life three times and by the grace of God I'm still here. I live with a personality disorder, depression, anxiety and I've recently developed chronic myofascial pain, irritable bowel syndrome, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and hypothyroidism, but I'm still alive and kickin! I've seen a multitude of different therapists and didn't start getting the proper therapy until I was 39 years old and had hit an all time low! Please hang in there, it does get better. A local priest introduced me to my current therapist who specializes in working with people who have my particular challenges. When I was 28 I had a gun to my head and at that very moment my landlord knocked at my door which gave me a jolt, because she had no way of knowing what I was about to do behind that door. She was, in that moment, my angel! If that wasn't a huge sign from God then I don't know what is!
What I think is really ignorant is the way some people label the suicidal person as selfish or a loser! I honestly don't think someone who's never contemplated or attempted suicide can ever begin to comprehend how much pain a suicidal person experiences. I dunno, maybe those people have lost a loved one and had to clean up the mess, but I think their entitled self righteous attitude is nothing, but negative and not worth a dried up old pile of dog poo!
I dunno if you specifically are suicidal or depressed, but things can and do get better. Please don't give up hope if you're struggling. If you are I would honestly be happy to pray for you and your struggles.
Despite my medical and psychiatric challenges I do intend to renew my gym membership, I just started taking a computer class despite the fact that it can be intimidating and I haven't taken any classes since I was in college over twenty years ago. I also hope to do some volunteer work at a clinic that helps women in crisis pregnancies here soon. As long as there's air in my lungs I figure I will continue to fight with my Siamese cat by my side. Hang in there, partner, I wish you all the best and God Bless.
