Is it normal that i avoid flushing the toilet at night?

So, basically, exactly what it says on the tin...

I avoid flushing the toilet after I use it at night, to avoid waking people up. The toilet water is always bright orange by the morning when I then go to flush it.

Is it normal?

That's fine, but please shut the lid to keep in the smell.

In fact, I often wonder what people think the toilet lid is for: it's been scientifically proven that leaving the lid up when you flush results in a fine spray of all sorts of nasties going for quite long distances, for example on to your toothbrush if the toilet is in your bathroom.

Put the lid down before you flush, that's what the lid is for!

I only flush my toilet after every second or third piss to save water and I also refill the cistern from bucket water from the shower.

I never flush at night. Its just too loud and I’m basically still sleeping. I also never turn on the light. Too bright.

When I was a kid I refused to flush the toilet at night. I was scared it would wake the frogs that lived in the U bend and they'd get me. I don't know why I was scared of frogs.

If it’s yellow let it mellow

  • I don't know, it may just be my parents' pee mixed in as they don't flush at night either...

Either way, it's pretty gross that there's stagnant piss in the bowl. Stagnant piss is full of disgusting bacteria. I just hate waking people up at like 4 in the morning...

that is sickening, i absolutely hate it when people do this, especially women.. there is nothing more disgusting then going for a pee and seeing others yellow urine there, and if someone needs a poo they need to flush it first anyway or they risk getting urine splashback plus not only that who wants to sit or smell someone elses urine... dont be so sick and start flushing your shit/urines

My diabetes put me in hospital for ten days and one of the nights there I got up to pee in the middle of the night as the toilet was across the hall from my ward and I didn't flush after I finished because I thought it would wake up other patients so I left it and went back to bed. I felt kind of guilty for not flushing it because the next person that used the toilet would see my deposit and may of felt disgusted. That was seven years ago and I still remember it well lol.

  • It isn't when I originally go, I don't think, but it turns that colour when it's been stagnant in the bowl for ages.

Me too, the noise from the flush just asked me up to !ugh in the middle of my sleep. Then I flush after making early morning deposit.
