Is it normal that i’m gay and conservative?

I don’t hate myself for being gay, and if someone magically offered to change my sexuality I wouldn’t accept. However, I don’t believe in gay marriage, or adoption, or gay people forcing their sexuality down ppls throats (eg gay pride parades / children’s movies etc). I also really dislike feminine men, masculine women and transgender people, although I do respect them as human beings and would never do any harm to them.

Bigotry is definitely not normal, regardless of your sexual orientation. Obviously there's no justification for discriminating against gay people in terms of marriage or adoption, but it makes even less sense to accuse gay people of "shoving their sexuality down pppls throats" for simply existing. I mean, you do realize straight people shove their sexuality down people's throats every day and in every movie, right? Every children's movie, every Disney movie, is full of straight characters...does that bother you? Or is this just another level of discrimination for you?

By the way, by not letting them get married or adopt children, you're harming them...so that last part about never harming them is BS.

      1. Lately I’ve seen some straight a phobic homosexual people, and those who shove it. They have pride take over many social media apps like Snapchat, yet we don’t have our straight flags for a whole month and a half taking over all of social media. And they’re getting easily angry over certain songs like “hellfire” or basically any show/song that doesn’t have too many lgbt people. So now many tv shows are almost forced to change their straight characters, which I don’t mind, but find it odd since I’ll suspect them to go to the middle first. So I understand their point

      2. I mean they probably base it off how other people of their sexuality act and such.

Given how your post is basically nothing but a list of some of the things you dislike, I think it's perfectly natural for you to be a conservative. Hate and fear are the defining characteristics of that mindset.

no the defining characteristics of conservatism is someone who holds traditional beliefs and is wary of change. Hate and fear is not a defining characteristic. If anything hate and fear has become a leftist tool especially in recent years as the left has been the ones who have been starting riots such as the anti-fa group and BLM.

It's normal for you to see yourself that way, but my comment was not just a cheap jibe.

That says the UK. Not every conservative are the same in al countries. And there are different types of conservatives- far right, and in the middle-conservative are most common

I think you need to stop basing your views off Trump

If you hadn't been so afraid of reading something you didn't like that you refused to use the link, you would have discovered that the article begins, "Politically, Americans are highly divided." It's a UK website, but the article is primarily about the USA, and I assume it was originally published there.

A couple of scrolls down, you would have also read, "A 2003 review of research conducted in five countries looked at 22 separate tests of the hypothesis that fear fuels conservative viewpoints and found it was universally true." (Link provided to research in the original article.)

Thanks for your suggestion, but I have one to give you: stop assuming that my views of American politics are based solely on the despicable Trump, his egregious enablers in Congress and his pathetic supporters.

My first specifically political memory goes back to when I was still in elementary school and is of hearing my very conservative father talk approvingly of Barry Goldwater. That name probably means nothing to you, but he was the Republican presidential candidate in 1964. My parents were semi-involved in various whacko right-wing political stuff and Christian fundamentalist idiocy following that, but my next specifically political memory is of going with my racist father to the local campaign headquarters for George Wallace's 1968 presidential run as an independent. Even as a kid, I remember getting a very weird and uncomfortable vibe off the people working there.

So I think I'm pretty well-informed when it comes to American politics over the last fifty years or so, and I'm definitely well-aware on a very personal level of the psychology underlying the conservative mindset.

I actually did read the link
And one simple test doesn’t justify every country. And that was a while back. Conservatives have changed drastically since then, and now not every conservative has the same viewpoint or range. Especially german conservatives

You can have your values but i basically disagree with everything you just said.

    1. i will never understand why people are against lgbt couples adopting? when basically all they want to do is give a child a home and two loving parents.

    2. i am so frustrated with this term "shoving down our throats" Pride parades are basically saying we have the right to love and we have overcome and will continue to overcome hate. love will always win. and showing lgbt characters in childrens movies are for educational purposes.

you know like letting these kids know that there are people who are different in one way but in so many other ways we are the same, teach them not to exclude, but to include, be a friend and treat everyone respectfully despite some personal differences from one another.

if anything was being shoved down peoples throats is the whole american dream, white picket fence romance. buy a house, marry a nice man or woman, start a family. that right there has been forced down our throats for so long and has caused this unnecessary fear, ignorance, bigotry and hate because for some reason its so unimaginable that two men or two women can love each other deeply. even though we all know that being human is more complex than we can ever truly understand... i mean we are only using 10% of our brain for crying out loud.

Well I think log cabin Republicans are. Also why do you hate gays so much as to deny them adoption?

If you mean economically conservative yes it's completely normal but if you mean socially conservative then you might want to rethink.

  • Don't want a political debate, but out of curiosity why don't you like the idea of gays adopting? Personally, I've always thought we should base adoption rules on intelligence more than anything else. Too many idiots out there don't know how to parent and keep their kids off the street.

I'm curious why you're against gay marriage? I lean mostly libertarian on issues and really do not care if two people, regardless of their sex, want to get married. Just seems odd to me that a gay person would be against gay marriage.

So you know how in the opening of Myth Busters they're like "They don't just tell the myths, they put them to the test".
But could you imagine if or if anyone were to have the expectation they just tell the myth?
Like it would be so funny and awkward if those guys just one by one told myths for a full TV program.

      What ever happened to Milo?

Not that I miss the self-important, self-promoting, shit-stirring, little turd, but I haven't seen him mentioned in the mainstream media for months. As far as he's concerned, that has to be as bad as being dead.

I suppose he's retreated into some toxic little bubble. Wherever he is, I'm sure we'll all hear from him again soon. His narcissism means won't be able to restrain his compulsive need to be noticed for long.

He got basically blacklisted when he would champion that it was beneficial for young gay teens to be "groomed" by older gay men. That was the final straw.

I am against older people grooming anyone younger regardless of sex or persuasion. Staight up, it's just nasty and predatory.
