Is it normal that girls stare at me a lot

It's happened ever since I was 16 but today I was driving from work in my car at the lights and I turn up the radio (not too loud) and look to my left and there is this girl just blankly staring at me for ages so I stare back. Now I thought she was staring at my car (it's just a 2010 VW golf sport) it's nothing special but it's not that she's actually looking at me. I make a false start because I forget I'm in N not drive and she does the same, still looking at me, I put it in to sport and Blast off trying to prove a point and she does the same then follows me for about half a mile before doing the same at the next junction before taking a left, she was really odd, I don't know why but it creeped me out, the way she looked at me.
I'm not exactly model looking, just an average guy I'm not ugly but not stunning either

Any thoughts why?

    people stare at me all the time , they just probably like something you are wearing , see something off about your haircut or something ... maybe you look like someone you know or possibly they think you are funny looking . I don't know why people constantly stare at me but I accept it and carry on with my day .

    Never had that happen to me before I've been checked out blatantly, and hit on by chicks be it older or younger. But never had them stare me down from a car to car perspective does this happen frequently? Or is this event just a one time deal. If it's a one time deal she was either high, or whacked out. If it's frequent, well, I'm grasping at straws on that.

      Well it seems you're really hot if everyone is staring at you. Or you look like someone famous and they think you're that person. I don't think there is any other reason.
