Is it normal that american food gives me the worst shits

I lived in France for quite awhile and the food there gave me almost no problems. But I recently returned to the US, where I happen to be studying, and ever since I have had diarrhoea. This has been happening since the beginning of June. It’s nothing too dehabilitating, but I have been running to the loo maybe three times a day max.

EDIT: so i actually found out i’m lactose intolerant.

Is It Normal?

  • I'd say that yeah that's normal, although I've never lived out of the US for any large amount of time.
I have found that the biggest factor in moving is the water. Moving to somewhere where the water is different has a huge affect on your guts. Other factors such as different pesticides, artificial colors, and even just air quality will affect you.

So yeah It should pass, although if it doesn't then then maybe see if you've picked up an allergy to something, I've heard that long distance moves can activate new ones in some cases.
    Best of luck.

  • You basically went from Coq au vin to the donut sandwich. So yeah, it's understandable.

    • No. But I wouldn’t say I eat “healthy” by any means. Everything I know how to cook is French. I wouldn’t call French food healthy by any means, but I still have the shits no matter what.
