    I’m normally in favour of the spouse of who looked after the child(ren) being granted a healthy sum as they sacrificed years of earning potential but in this case half is outrageous.

    This is why I am in favour of prenups, even though many people consider them distasteful.

      They pretend to find it 'distasteful' they just want a better monitory life through marriage and if it goes wrong they still do well out of the whole thing. It is rarely brought up when the couple who are going to be married are on a similar level. And the one who would do better out off a divorce never brings it up.

        I heard it described by a former colleague as “like buying insurance for a car”. I mentally added “a car you have a 50% chance of crashing”.

          Only when you ignore the lights and dont do maintenance. Do those both and it decreases the chances of sudden crashes.
