  • The term "traumatized" and subsequently "trauma" have been made less concrete thanks to overuse of the words. You'll find this to be true of a variety of other mental health issues as well. Bipolar depression, autism, tourette's, and social anxiety have also been victims of this.

    Part of the issue is self diagnosis. (IE: "I have BPD but have never seen someone who can diagnose me with this.") The other half is found with people using the terms for non-medical purposes. (IE: "Stop being autistic.") The word traumatized has unfortunately met the same fate. It's meaning is longer synonymous with what it was 20 years ago.

    • The word racism has been degraded to mean just about nothing now. We need to teach the story of the boy who cried wolf more.
