Recently someone sent me a PM about something, this person doesn't look to have is it normal gold, there is no gold dot by the user name.

So I clicked at a couple other random names on here and there is a button to send PM. When did that happen?

    If someone has gold, you can PM them, even if you don't have gold. One party has to have it.

    I thought only gold members could start a conversation, but apparently I was wrong.

    When you have IIN Gold you get an option to hide the gold button. So the person has it and just doesn't advertise it.
