I think it's "normal" in today's job market, but I also think you need to learn how to sell yourself. Help the hiring manager see how your "awesomeness" can be an asset; don't think of these places as "crappy little stores," or apply at better places if you really do feel that way; make sure it doesn't seem like you'll leave in six months.
