Well, it's probably more of an issue with the lower class people of your race than it is with your race as a whole. Most likely the majority of white and black people in your town were probably more established middle class people. Also whatever you do don't ever think any less of yourself. You sound like an intelligent and compassionate person. This isn't so much about people being Puerto Rican as it is probably about people being poorer, and less established.
I've usually liked most of the Puerto Rican people I've met in my life, and they struck me as perfectly fine people. I've never really had any issues, but I do think that perhaps this may have something to do with never having lived in a place that was almost entirely Puerto Rican.
The bottom line is that people are people, and there is good and bad in all people. I'm half Colombian, and there has unfortunately been a stereotype of Colombian people and dealing cocaine. However, I have never met any Colombian drug dealers myself, because I have never lived in a place that had a majority of Colombians. All the Colombians I've ever known have been decent, middle class, law abiding citizens.
By the way, I hate cocaine, because of all the violence it has caused.
Your observation illustrates the broader point that many cultures do not mix well. The Hispanic culture of South America does not mix well with the Northern European culture of North America. Kleptocracy, and priority of exploitation over wealth creation are two elements that change the social atmosphere when newly arrived Hispanic immigrants become the majority. Second generation citizens of Hispanic descent like RoseIsabella do not have these values.
Just be glad you aren't living in England where Islamic belief is now undermining freedom, democracy, and social civility that white people hold dear to their hearts. The Magna Carta, the monarchy, and yet England itself are doomed. Doomed to become totally fucked.
To be completely honest I relate most to Anglo-Saxon culture. I'm more of an individualist than a collectivist. I am the type of person who believes that the truth shall set you free over the idea of not rocking the boat for the sake of the group.
IIN my race made a wealthy town ghetto?
