If I were you, just to rule out over sensitity on your part, get a friend to be there next time you're chewing and see what they observe about the people upstairs.
I've actually had 3 different friends listen and they've heard my neighbors being ridiculous, and I even brought over the lady who dyed my hair last month and even she thought they were weird. It's essentially stalking only less serious.
I enjoy listening to my neighbors have sex. It is a relaxing experience to live vicariously thru all the groans and moans. Perhaps she could play a porno CD so that the sexual sounds give her neighbors happier things to listen to.
I think this is good psychology. What do you think?
I think that's a great idea! That's reminded me that when I was a young newly wed I used to get in from work and after a cup of tea iron my work outfit and my husband's business shirt for the next day. After a couple of months of this routine a note appeared under our door from a neighbour asking us to fix our squeaky bed because they could hear us when we made love every afternoon - the squeaking was actually the ironing board!
The possibilities are endless: loud fart noises: tapes of a baby crying or a puppy barking; motor bike revving noises .... I'd really give them something to listen to!
