It's not illegal to set up cameras in his home. Well, as long as it's not in bathrooms. Other than that he can claim it was set up for security and because he felt like something was going wrong while he wasn't home. He was right.

Not sure you can claim an exemption to privacy, if the space was where he had a reasonable right to be. Security cameras are everywhere, so it is your responsibility to make sure where you are cheating is safe.
