  • I can understand why this would effect your relationship. I would find it difficult to seamlessly continue loving a person who looked very different from the person I fell in love with.

I think of it as a kind of imprinting. The appearance of your partner becomes imprinted in your mind over a long period of time, and if they change how they look dramatically and suddenly and permanently your brain will not make the connection that they are even the same person anymore. Worse, they could fall into the "uncanny valley"; they'll look clearly different but so similar that it'll be kind of creepy.

If I were you, I'd advise her to at least try out without changing her body. She can make a point to the judges (or whatever) that she is prepared to modify her body if it's necessary for her to get the job and it's written into the contract. Better yet: if there's a way of contacting the employer before the try out, she could straight up ask them if it makes a difference and base her decision on that.

Changing the size of her breasts will have to change how she balances when she performs. That could actually weaken her performance, at least until she adjusts to the difference, so in the short term it might not give the her the advantage she believes it will.

As for you: I'd give you the same sort of advice. If she has the surgery wait and see if it's something you're able to deal with. It's okay if you can't deal with it, and it's okay to break up over something like that. On the other hand, you might find it easier to deal with than you anticipate.
