1) She doesn't trust you to keep what she says to yourself.
2) You're the cause of her problems, but she doesn't want to break up.
3) She doesn't fully understand why she's feeling like she is.
4) She's embarrassed that she's upset by what's bothering her.
5) She's feeling guilty about something and thinks you knowing would make you think less of her.
6) She's done something criminal and she's afraid you'll turn her in to the cops.
7) She's been threatened that if she tells anyone, something awful will happen.
8) She thinks she's strong enough to deal with her problems on her own.
9) Telling you would give you leverage to blackmail her in future.
10) Someone has told her something awful but made her promise not to share it with anyone.
11) She's going through that teen phase where you start to doubt the point of life and it all seems so futile and meaningless.
And so on and on and on...
The only thing that matters is that she's made it clear she doesn't want to talk to you about it. Let her know that you're available to listen, but respect her decision and accept that everyone has the right to a private mental life.

she thinks she SHOULD be strong enough to deal with her problems on her own...
basically most of these problems are caused by lack of trust however. if that leads to lack of communication, things might be going downhill . .
