You know, the English "High classes" developed the accent in order to further their superiority over the "commoners". Most of the pilgrims were of the lower classes, and spoke as such. Therefor the American accent, is the "Original" British accent. A few centuries later and everyone over there is suddenly talking like a rich person \^-^/

Yet there is no reason to keep the old way of talking as time has indeed changed...don't get me wrong, I still believe that chick is kinda fucked up for simply saying that is love but there is no need to be so serious over accents...
