  • This isn't a debate about should and shouldn't.

    • I think it's good that you feel anything towards any kind of suffering at all. Compassion in any form is always a blessing, even if it's just towards animals it's better than nothing. That much i can tell you.

    • Nope, it's not a debate about how you, OP, should or shouldn't feel. It's probably not normal, but maybe you've been hurt and disappointed by more people than you can count, Lord knows I have. I'm not gonna judge you.

      • He's not wrong. It isn't normal. Typically humans are social creatures and they interact with each other and sympathize and empathize with each other regularly.

When a human doesn't show compassion or empathy in this case it's a sign of clinical psychopathic behavior.

I know most people think murders and rapist and blah blah and those people CAN be psychopaths but generally they are sociopaths. A Psychopath is something entirely different from a sociopath and there is no requirement of murder or anything on either side.

        Clinical Psychopathy :
a personality disorder characterized by persistent antisocial behavior, impaired empathy and remorse, and bold, disinhibited, egotistical traits.

Of Which arguably you have shown signs of both sides of the definition just in this thread alone. It's not like a light switch that is either on or off, there are degrees of it. Some people are the full on crazies who have zero consideration for human life and others are more like me and have mild tendencies which sounds more like you. I have several disorders that overlap so I don't display egotistical traits but you kinda come off that way with the whole, "this is not a debate" bit.

I'd recommend you talk to a therapist and don't mention that someone else said you might be and see if their diagnosis comes up the same.

I am NOT a psychoanalyst nor a therapist of any type though I have taken most of the courses to do so, so please don't take my word for it but I think it would be good for your mental health to find out if it's biological or if it is as RoseIsabella said and maybe related to emotional distress.
