Is it normal my cousin bit a skunk?

Okay so before you assume I'm some redneck living on a farm chilling with the honey boo boo gang, no just no.

My cousin was outside camping in his backyard and he said he heard something outside his tent so he used a light to see what it was, saw a shadow and attacked it by body-slamming it which caused the tent to fall over. He had it under him and the fabric of the tent was separating him from the wild animal. He didn't know what it was but said he instinctively knew he had to bite it so it would get away as he was afraid it would have bitten him had he not made the first move. So he bit it and he said it squirmed and ran off. He put back up the tent/got out and when I came to visit, he showed us the teeth puncture marks on his tent that he made along with fur stuck in it. The tent smells like intense roadkill and burning rubber. The hairs/fur looks like it belongs to a skunk and the scent of burning rubber according to google is the definition of skunk.

So therefore, in conclusion, he bit a skunk. Honestly when he told us, I didn't know how to react. I told him he should see a doctor because he might have contracted something but he refuses. IIN? Should I be concerned? Maybe people have done this before and don't get harmed? I dunno. Just seems a little harmful.
