Is it normal my boyfriend wants to be feminine

I've been with my boyfriend for 3 years, 2 years ago he started sorta "coming out" to me about his feelings and thoughts about his masculinity. He really loves feminine clothing, jewelry, makeup, and more feminine roles. He says he doesn't want to like be a female or be with men or change his body surgically but he wants to grow his hair out and wear makeup and follow the feminine roles of beauty.

I've kept it under wraps with him for these 2 years and he hasn't made any public progress with who he wants to be (Still dresses masculine, doesn't shave, buzzcut hairstyle, yadda yadda) and he says he's still really uncomfortable with himself and doesn't want to do anything drastic. His insecurities are starting to sorta bother me, do I want a feminine boyfriend? No. But it's hard loving a person who wants nothing to do with themself. I'd rather him dress with a chick and have a full face of makeup than drink himself into depression every week.

You should talk to him about all of this. Talk to him about how he feels being feminine along with why he doesn't feel comfortable in public. Also talk to him about your thought and feeling on the whole issue.

he sounds lovely, please accept him and make him feel loved. if you love him, which I bet you do, you will stick this out for him, even if that means just being friends with him. best of luck

Sounds like you are in the 'Long Good-bye' stage with this guy. You probably love him, but are not in love with him. Tough situation. He's not the one for you, but three years investment makes it hard to leave. You don't want to lose the friendship part.

Guy is broken, and you can't fix him. Likely due to problems with his father while growing up. In any case, normal for you to prefer masculine men. Before you leave, make sure you tell him to sort himself out.

well thats very rude, there is nothing wrong with him liking feminine things. there is nothing wrong with him, he sounds lovely and his dad may have nothing to do with this.

All men are broken or defected in one way or another, you included. But the wannabe feminine men are the worst.

Well didn't you go be with him when he got his ears pierced? Maybe the two of you should go panty shopping.

Your first priority if you care about him should be his depression, not what's causing it. Encourage him to seek a sympathetic therapist.

I don't see anything wrong with what he wants, but obviously it's bothering you and unless one or both of you changes your attitude the relationship is in big trouble.
