This is a phenomenon that I have noticed. Most people who play adult games, like GTA and COD, are children. On the other hand, most people who play kiddie games, such as Pokemon and Super Mario, are adults.
The grass is greener on the other side mentality. When you're a child, you want to be an adult, so you play violent adult games. When you're an adult, you want to be a child again, so you play children's games.
Makes sense, kids have free time and access to consoles and want to feel mature, adults don't have as much free time and also are nostalgic so they play silly stuff on their phones.

Pokemon and Mario Party are fun, even if they don't have any adult themes. Adults shouldn't need a Rated M lable to find something entertaining.
If it helps, plenty of adults play rated M games as well. They just don't use the mic as often.
