First of all. Not all blacks came from Africa and not all Africans are black. It's just convenient for them to use that name as they are only Negros when talking about the American Negro College Association and Colored when you refer to the NAACP. It is too hard for them to refer to themselves as just plain old Americans. So I just refer to them as Blacks or people of color and let it go at that.
