Is it normal i will not make art of white people

I make pretty interesting art. I have a lot of fans and I get requests all the time. I could easily draw white characters if I wanted to but I absolutely refuse to do it.

There is a plethora of white art out there.

Look anywhere and see numerous representations of white people. The selection is nearly infinite.

But the variety of black (African American) art is lacking.

There are too many artists to count who only make art that they can relate to on a personal level. I wish to do the same.

Is It Normal?

  • I think that's fine. It is your art, create what you want. But why make it a statement?

I have a Native friend who makes beautiful art of her tribe. There are never white people in it and I doubt there ever will be. She has never made her art about what it isn't, only what it is. And while she could feel justified in being angry, there is no anger in her work.

  • Yeah. Some people like darker skin art. If people say it's racist, no. If you are saying hate against whites, yes. I like tan skin tones cause it's nice for painting. But remember, it's always good for you to try different faces and skins and hair and stuff so try lighter skins too.

  • Wow, that is one of the most racist and bigoted posts I've seen on here.
I thought artists were supposed top be creative and open minded. I can't help but believe your art is stodgy and uninteresting as it must be all monochromatic.
You might want to switch your area of expertise to painting posters for the KKK.

  • Yes, it is. Why is it that white people can have a sense of culture to be proud of, but an oppressed group is angry, or hateful, when they want to hold their's up?

  • That is fine. I just don't know why you even have to make a statement about it. Just make the art you want to. If you don't want to draw white people then don't but why go parading around professing that you refuse to draw white people.
