Is it normal i want to make a leather phone case of my own skin?

I just finally got my iPhone 13 pro max 256gb in sierra blue. This baby deserves nothing but the best. I tried leather cases from Apple, Nomad, Decoded, Bullstrap, Journey, and Benks, but none was perfect enough for me to keep it. It dawned upon me that no case would be more perfect and uniquely mine than a case made of my own skin. I have therefore been investigating options to shave a layer of skin from my back (just like they do during transplants) and bring it to a craftsman to make my own, perfect leather case that will be uniquely mine and will patina beautifully over time.

Genius, right? Just don’t do it before me. It was my idea so I deserve to be first.

Is It Normal?

  • You're a freak. Simple as that

  • It takes more than shaving a layer of skin to make leather. You need the base skin as well.

You also might wish to look and touch real skin leather to see if it matches what you expect.

Some of the major libraries in larger cities have real skin books in a restricted area (real skin leather was used for some book bindings and other things in the past - the books are rare); that you can see, handle, and read if you desire too.

Certain exclusive rare book dealers also have such books.

I've never seen or handled it myself. But, I'm told that its not what you expect.

      • Just do a search on "human leather books"

There are other objects that were made with human leather as well. Again they are rare.

  • Totally normal not even sure why you're asking.

  • You sound like a frustrated SS officer who made lampshades and things out of human skin.

  • It’s a phone, make your partner a leather wallet instead

  • I had a thought. What if when someone dies, they have the option of being skinned and stuffed (like some do with pets) and the remains are then cremated? Morally/ethically not wrong if the person wanted it. But should we give in to their wishes.

  • Get one of Elon Musk's brain chip things. Then you might not even need a phone.

  • This seems like trolling, but if it isn't, do what you want I guess. Nobody can stop you.

You'd need a lot of skin though.

  • I mean if you got a leg or arm amputated that skin could go to getting you a leather case. Idk why you would want one though. Leather is terrible for impact absorption over an otterbox.

    • I could wrap an otterbox in my own skin

  • You'd need a pretty big patch of skin. How about using your nutsack instead? Probably stretchy enough for two iphones in case you ever upgrade.

  • Nope.

  • honestly i don't think any doctor would be willing to do that, you'd have to perform it yourself or get a friend or something to do it
