Is it normal i want to be a hacker!!!?

If you've been following the recent SONY fiasco, I think its quite exciting to be those hackers. Hacking gives some type of power, I mean if I did study towards it, I wouldn't do anything wrong...at the very least I could learn a great deal. I'm currently in the science field but I'm not ignorant about electronics totally. I think being a hacker is the only way to understand and manipulate the devices we use anyway, so what do you think?

Is It Normal?

    • Unless you're working for the government / businesses to test potential weaknesses in their security.

It can be a pretty lucrative thing, nowadays. Companies need 'good' hackers in order to stop 'bad' hackers.

    • Not necessarily. It's all about the motives/intentions (or as other people said, the color of your "hat").

It's almost the same thing about owning a weapon, be it a blade or a firearm - it can cause harm or it can protect.

  • I wish I was a hacker. Like you said, I don't want to do anything wrong, but I think that having the knowledge to be a hacker would help protect myself from other hackers who are doing something wrong.

  • Like anyone else who maliciously invades the space of others, I think hackers should be criminalized much more than they are. You may admire the Sony hackers, but they have maliciously destroyed the lives of many of the little people (and their families) at Sony and are putting hundreds of employees who have nothing to do with policy or profit sharing out of work.
These are the same scum of the earth who infect millions of computers with malicious viruses, just because they can.
I honestly think that malicious hackers should be given the death penalty. They hurt too many people just for the power trip you seem to admire.
