Is it normal i wanna be cryogenically frozen when i die?

A while back I talked about how I found it disturbing that my grandma would bring my grandpa’s ashes when she moved in, and some people gave me flack for that (I actually haven’t seen them anywhere, so I don’t know what she actually did with them, if they’re in a car or something) but in all honesty the thing I found most disturbing about it was the fact he was cremated at all. I think this may be a minority opinion, but I absolutely hate the concept of cremation. Why would anyone want to incinerate their body like that? And as someone who wants to live a long time, I’d like to be frozen and brought back whenever possible, cremation makes that impossible. If I can’t I hope to find some other way of being preserved, but if not possible maybe just bury me the normal way.

    Freezer burn, power outages.
How do you know any of those companies are reliable since no one has every been brought back?
Who pays the electric bill? What if the company goes under?

Why take up more space on this planet?

I want animals and plants to feed off my corpse when I die.

I have the ashes of two of my cats who have passed away, and I don't think it's odd to keep those ashes in a place of honor in my home. It has never disturbed me when people kept the ashes of their loved ones in their homes.

My grandmother kept the first love letter she ever recieved from my grandfather for the better part of a century, and requested that she be buried with it. When she passed away I was in the person in my family who had the honor of placing the letter in the urn with her ashes. It didn't bother me one damn bit!

I tend to feel annoyed by people who are overly squeamish about death.

You were one of the people who gave me flack, and I think you said about the same thing. I can’t really help being squeamish when it’s someone I knew, I guess I’m just sensitive like that.

Well, honestly don't remember that particular post, but if it's legal to keep ashes in the home in your state it shouldn't be a big deal. I guess it's okay for you to have your feelings, because those feelings are yours of course, but don't bother your bereaved grandmother about it.

To me death is a natural part of life, it's very sad, and I mourn the loss of a loved one, but I can't imagine being squeamish, or grossed out by it if the body is intact, and hasn't been through some dreadful, or gruesome trauma. I feel in my heart, of hearts that I need to grieve, and say my goodbyes, I feel the need to be present and honor my dead.

Although I have been trying to get better with exposure to these sorts of things. It’s weird, I can see all sorts of death related things about strangers but feel uneasy when it’s a loved one. I guess it feels more personal to me.

Have you ever read any books on grieving? What are you going to do when someone close to you dies, and you are the one responsible for making the funeral arrangements? If you live long enough it will eventually happen.

  • Oh hey I gave you flacks, see told you she’s not going to dance around your room sprinkling them everywhere.

I always thought burning the body was a lil weird too but I think some do it because it’s cheaper or so they can have the aches. I can understand where sometimes cremation is necessary like if a person passed away in an accident where the body’s not like very presentable and stuff. Personally I want the normal buried way.

You are squeamish about ashes but not your dismembered popsicle head sitting around in a metal can.

    Yeah makes sense.

At least my head is still intact. I’d like for every bit of my body to survive as long as it can instead of being obliterated in an instant.

Upon learning some faults that may occur, I think my wish of what to do with my body is this (goes out to whatever family or friends I have left by then):

If there’s any way a body can be preserved or brought back at the time of my death, try your best to hook me up to it. If not possible, then either persevere me Vladimir Lenin style or just bury me the normal way (and because I’m a monster fan, if you want you can even mummify me ancient Egyptian style. I’m weird I know). I’ll just be on record saying I’m personally not a fan of cremation.

I hope that you can accept death and what happens to you and your body after it. I think its nice that you would like to preserve your body in a different way, your different idea from what is considered the norm is great and thank you for sharing. Its interesting how there can be so many facets to how a corpse is dealt with.

    • You got no reason to assume and I have no reason to post something and answer it. I responded to two about death and I even mentioned I don’t want to be frozen just a burial. If you payed attention enough.
