No, trucks aren't the problem it's regular drivers.
There are usually truck routes in towns and cities large enough to require them but the intent is more for the trucks to be able to deliver promptly and efficiently rather than safety and convenience of car drivers.
You don't have to worry about truckers so much as car drivers, these guys drive for a living and are much more careful and knowledgeable than the average driver.
My husband is a truck driver so if you have any specific questions about trucking in the US I can ask him.
I never said truck drivers were a problem. Small cars go faster by 20-30 miles. Big trucks usually go very slow and are very heavy. If a small car swerves or driving recklessly it would be hard for a truck to move out of the way. It would be easier for small vehicles to get out of the way. If one car crashes it can create possible accidents but a massive truck crashing can create a lot more damage. Who owns the truck is not the issue here. So if we have heavy slow vehicles in one lane and small fast vehicles in the other we have a lower chance of accidents.
IIN I think that we should have a separate lane for just trucks?
