IIN I think if you carry a genetic disorder you shouldn't have children?

  • I agree. In 2016 I read about a woman who recently had a kid despite the fact that she herself had early-onset, hereditary ALS and the disease has been in the family since the 1700s. STOP REPRODUCING SERIOUSLY JUST STOP.

    • with genetic screening it is now possible to remove these defects from the gene pool. unless you have a dominant gene such as Huntingtons you and your partner may be carriers of a recessive gene such as cf in which case you have a 1 in 4 chance of having a child with the defect.

      • That's what the woman should have done, but apparently she didn't give a shit because she didn't do it.

          • I feel terrible for people who have Huntington's.

          • That's good to hear about the screening. And something I want to add to this post is that just because a person can do something doesn't mean they should. I believe that people should be legally allowed to have kids if they want, but they shouldn't expect anyone to support them or approve of it.
